1. General Information

eZi Remit is a remittance service that allows you to send money back to your home country from South Africa securely and legally.

Other countries you can send to will be added in stages. A list of the countries is:

Bangladesh, China, DRC, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Malawi, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Yes. You can set up your own eZi Remit account as long as you are 18 years of age or older.

You can sign-up using any of the following channels:

  • Self sign-up on the eZi Remit Website 
  • Self sign-up on the Mobile Applications (The eZi Remit app can be downloaded on Google Play) or,
  • Via an appointed sign-up agent located nationwide. For more information, please contact us on +27818641063

Once signed up you can transact via the following channels:

Your recipient can receive the money via any of the following methods captured at the time of creating a transaction:

  • Mpesa Mobile wallet (Kenya)

Beneficiaries will receive the remittances in their currency of the country.

After you have sent money, your recipient will receive a notification by SMS confirming the transaction.

Currently, you can only send money to Kenya.

3. Documentation

You must have any of the following valid identity documents:

  • South African ID (green barcoded or smart card)
  • Asylum Permit,
  • Foreign Passport

No. Proof of address is not required.

2. How to

As a signed-up customer you can process a transaction by:

  • Adding a recipient
  • Creating an order through a “get quote” option
    • When using app
    • When paying through agent
    • When using website

If a quote is not settled within 12 hours, it automatically expires.

You can pay for your transaction using any of the following methods:

  • Pay with your bank account via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

4. Pricing/Cash

You can transact up to R5 000 per day / R25 000 per month

The minimum transaction limit is R100.

Your recipient will at least need the following:

  • A valid Mpesa account
